MI Students Make A Difference, Help Clean Up Pasig River

Grade 10 and 12 students culminated their Citizen Army Training (CAT) Program last Friday, November 23, 2018, by participating in the Pasig River Rehabilitation (PRRC) Initiative.

The students completed classes and examinations before leaving for the Pasig River at lunchtime. There, they met the community leaders who showed them sustainable development-product making. The students weaved dried water hyacinths to produce eco-friendly products.

Supervised by the MIIS Upper School teachers and guided by the PRRC Team, the students then proceeded with the clean-up and trash segregation around the Pasig River.

The MIIS CAT program aims to teach students to be productive and responsible citizens and to be men and women for others. Through this, our young men and women are trained to become SMART LEADERS who are empowered to Make A Difference.

MIIS Upper School Principal Mrs. Selene Sison-Olvido says that “Events like this are avenues to walk our talk and be role models of the sustainability thrust and campaign of the entire school and community”.

“With students’ cooperation and the strong support and partnership of parents, Upper School students can definitely be role models of good citizenship and leadership”, Mrs. Olvido said.
