Preschoolers, Parols Brighten Holidays at MI

The Multiple Intelligence International School Child’s Place Preschool brought Holiday cheer and spirit to the school community last Saturday, December 15, 2018.

The preschoolers, from the Toddlers, to Kinder-2 students, were in full force as they donned Holiday costumes to perform a rendition of Eric Carle’s children’s book Dream Snow

The book tells the story of a farmer and his few animals. One night he dreams that snow has covered his animals and remembers that it’s Christmas. He delivers presents to the animals and Tree gives him a big surprise.

The preschoolers performed a number of classic Holiday songs, such as “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Let It Snow”, and other songs, both new and old.

Parols spark sustainability, holiday spirit

In addition to the Holiday program, another highlight of the night was the awarding of the Parol Mula Sa Puso competition.

Aimed to bring families together and rekindle the meaningful Filipino tradition of lantern-making, Parol Mula Sa Puso is a contest open to all families in the preschool community. The families were encouraged to use local and/or recycled materials in the making of their parols, with the theme “Let your lantern represent your family”.

The Green Parol Award was given to the parol that reflects the true meaning of Christmas through the use of environmentally-friendly materials. This was awarded to the Family of Alonzo Gedang, Kinder 1B.

The Most Creative Parol Award was awarded to the Family of Wammy (K2A) and Ali (Nursery) Moises. Family and friends from the preschool community accepted the award collectively. The parol featured elements from the Philippine flag, made with recycled plastic straws, and with LED lights installed.

The Parol Mula sa Puso Award was given to the Family of Gauge De Hitta, Kinder 1A, who created a parol made out of recycled fastfood containers.
